1. If you eat food after eight you'll gain weight.
2. Anyone who eats food after eight pm you will gain weight.
3. Will be uploaded
4. It is valid but not true because there isn't enough evidence to support the claim even though it sounds like a valid argument
5. If you eat food after eight pm you will gain weight
6. Will be uploaded
a. This doesn't apply to this agreement because the results aren't all true which they need to be a tautology.
b. We don't know if the agreement isn't tautology because we don't have the support or claim to show or back up why it isn't a tautology in real life.
c. They aren't useful in this case because they can't really give us the evidence we need.
7. Consider the source: Lifehack.org, I am unsure that is a good source because I have never used this site but websites ending in org are usually good sources because they are organizations.

Validate accuracy:I found two other articles that say the same thing and pose the same argument. But I found three articles that say eating after 7 pm will make you gain weight. So the information given isn't clear.
Avoid the big picture: This claim makes sense but I don't trust it blindly because the info isn't the same though the websites.
8. Yes this is a fallacy because the article doesn't back up its claim or augment with any information facts or data, which makes it fall under the category applies to emotion because women that are looking at this article are trying to or find information out about losing and gaining weight.
9. It helped us think more critically about media and information. Rather than trusting everything that is there you need more than one source.
I agree, this argument is a fallacy. Saying anyone that eats after 8:00 pm will gain weight just isn't logically accurate. How could they measure this? Did the article even have a study? If so, how many people were in the study? No, it is not a good idea to eat right before you go to bed because you'll have a harder time digesting thus, falling asleep and staying asleep in general. But how many people go to bed around 8:00? Not a lot of people. This article seems like a load of garbage.
ReplyDeleteI like that your really researched this fallacy and had a lot of information to back up your position on it and I totally agree with you.
ReplyDeleteGlad this isn't true, I always eat after 8pm! You have a lot of really great research too!
